Naya

Young Adult Career Initiative and
Young Mothers Career Empowerment Program

Naya started the Young Adult Career Initiative and Young Mothers Career Empowerment Program in September 2020. Naya has a young daughter and came to Aspire to explore various career paths that would lead to gainful employment in order to support her daughter as a single mother.

She always had an interest in the healthcare industry but didn’t learn about the position, Central Services Technician, until meeting with our partners at Rowan College at Burlington Counties Workforce Development Institute. They introduced the occupation, which is responsible for preventing infection by sterilizing, cleaning, processing, assembling, storing, and distributing medical supplies.

We assisted Naya with applying for an Induvial Training Account through the Burlington County Workforce Development Board. The program subsidizes the cost of training programs for in-demand industries, for eligible adults. Through our program we were also able to provide the necessary supportive services to reduce her barriers to success, such as transportation to get to class and scrubs and shoes for her externship at Cooper hospital.

Naya impressed her supervisors, because even before completing her externship hours, she was offered a full-time position at Cooper Hospital as a Central Services Technician!  Naya is a great example of being open minded through the career exploration experience, seeking out support and rescores and staying focused and determined. Congrats to Naya!
