Staff Position Available:
Part Time Student Leadership Institute Coordinator.
Purpose of Organization:
ASPIRE provides unique and engaging programs and services to help prepare young adults for their futures. We use a collaborative approach to our program design, partnering with government, education, non-profit and industry partners, to offer diverse leadership and career exploration opportunities.
Program Overview:
Aspire seeks a part time Coordinator to support our Student Leadership Institute (SLI). This is a short-term position, approximately March-October 2022. The coordinator will recruit & train middle & high school students with a primary goal to prevent youth from engaging in behaviors that will put their health and well-being at risk. The program focuses on three student-led areas: a social media campaign, school and community events and advocacy awareness activities. We will provide a framework; however, the specific elements of the program will be developed by middle and high school participants, creating authentic youth-voice. The program participants, or “Ambassadors” will use their creativity to craft relevant messaging and use appropriate platforms to engage the target audience.

- Assist in the planning and coordination of our full-day youth leadership Summit (April 30) at YMCA of the Pines (Medford, NJ) for approximately 40-50 middle and high school students.
- Support students in the development of a substance abuse prevention social media campaign and post on a weekly basis on our social media channels.
- Facilitate bi-weekly zoom meetings with participants from May-Sept.
- Coordinator school and community events, such as post-prom alternatives, “sticker-shock” campaigns at local liquor stores and peer-to-peer conversations.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years’ experience working with middle and/or high school aged youth
- Experience or interest in alcohol and drug prevention programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
